This print is one of 101 different images created by Dali to commemorate the 700th Anniversary of Dante Alighieri's birth. Dante, author of the Divine Comedy, wrote in the form of a poem, which consists of 100 cantos describing a trip through the Afterlife, Vergil guiding Dante through Hell and Purgatory, and Beatrice through Paradise. The Italian government originally planned to publish a special edition of Divine Comedy which would include Dali's work. After Communists who protested Italy's greatest poet being illustrated by a Spaniard the government ended up issuing commemorative postage stamps. Artwork is in excellent condition. Un-signed.
